These numbers are simple estimates based on the official, most recent data coming from U.S. Customs and Border Protection(CBP). Whenever they update this data, this site will be updated in accordance to keep our estimates up to date. In June, 130,419 encounters were made on the border - an average of 4,347 per day, or 3 encounters every minute. These numbers are low for the Biden administration, a combination of a common downtick in encounters during these months, and preparation for November's election. So, in most cases, these numbers are a conservative estimate. The term “got away” means an unlawful border crosser who— (A) is directly or indirectly observed making an unlawful entry into the United States; (B) is not apprehended; and (C) is not a turn back.
